The ATU President’s Award for Volunteering recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution made by students who volunteer their time, skills and energy in their communities. The award highlights the impact of student volunteering across a wide range of sectors, including community development, education, sport, health, environmental action and social inclusion, both locally and nationally.

Students from across all ATU campuses are encouraged to submit a volunteering diary that reflects on their experiences, learning and personal development through volunteering. The diary process provides students with an opportunity to document not only the hours completed, but also the skills gained, challenges encountered and the positive difference made through their engagement.

Volunteering plays a vital role in enriching the student experience at ATU, supporting civic engagement and strengthening connections between the university and its surrounding communities. Through their volunteering, ATU students demonstrate leadership, empathy and a strong commitment to making a meaningful contribution beyond the classroom.

Speaking about the award, ATU representatives highlighted that the President’s Award for Volunteering aligns closely with the university’s values of social responsibility, partnership and student success. The award also supports student employability by helping participants articulate transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving and reflective practice.

Students who submit a completed diary by the closing date of 1 June 2026 will be achieve the first ever ATU President’s Award for Volunteering, which formally acknowledges their commitment and contribution. Award recipients will receive official recognition from the University President at an ATU awards event.
