On Tuesday 24th March, three students were awarded as Volunteers of the Year at the inaugural DCU Student Impact Awards 2026, which took place in the U Building.
The Student Impact Awards celebrated different student contributions across DCU, such as volunteering, peer mentoring, membership of clubs and societies, and arts bursary awardees.
The 'Volunteers of the Year' award celebrates and rewards those students who have gone above and beyond to better society and help those in need. Volunteering can be done in many ways; through working with a club or society on campus, helping a charitable organisation, or simply supporting a local community group. The winners of this award demonstrated great selflessness and compassion, giving up their time to be a better neighbour and helpful friend. This award celebrates DCU's volunteers and all of their efforts over the past year.
The Volunteers of the Year were Caríosa Sweeney, Sarah Gavin and Niamh Dolan.
