Description

Role Description As a Beyond Surviving Champion, you will play a vital role in raising awareness about Beyond Surviving’s services on a local and national scale. With your support and outreach efforts, we will increase visibility, build community, and further promote our charity. You’ll be an important representative of Beyond Surviving—sharing information, engaging with the public, and championing our survivor-led ethos! Key Responsibilities Outreach & Representation ● Represent Beyond Surviving at events (such as fundraising/ community events, campaigns, local outreach, cheque presentations, wellness fairs, etc.) and help ensure Beyond Surviving has a visible, respectable and empowering presence. ● Raise awareness of our mission, services, and values through in-person and digital engagement. ● Distribute materials (e.g. leaflets, zines) and engage with the public in a sensitive, trauma-informed manner. Awareness Raising & Community Engagement ● Help initiate or support awareness activities and campaigns that reflect survivors’ voices and the ethos of Beyond Surviving. ● Engage with local and national networks, community groups, and relevant allies to build partnerships and increase visibility. ● Gather and share survivor-informed stories and insights (with permission and safeguarding considerations) that help raise awareness and engagement. Promotion & Collaboration ● Collaborate with other volunteers (e.g. ‘Events Coordinators’, ‘Fundraisers’, ‘Content Creators’, etc.) to promote events, resources, awareness and engagement initiatives, and campaigns across communication channels (e.g. social media, website, newsletters). ● Support campaigns and moments of awareness (e.g. Sexual Violence Awareness Month, 16 Days of Activism, etc.). ● Collaborate with the team to ensure messaging remains trauma-informed, survivor-led, and aligned with our tone and values. Advocacy & Survivor-Led Contribution ● Where appropriate, share feedback from the community or outreach efforts to inform future campaigns, resources, and awareness and engagement strategies. ● Ensure all outreach reflects the lived experience, values, and ethos of our survivor-led, trauma-informed approach. ● Champion the survivor’s voice and advocate for their inclusion, rights and needs. ● Involve survivors of DSGBV in all efforts where appropriate (with permission and safeguarding considerations). Who We’re Looking For ● Passionate about supporting and advocating for survivors and aligned with Beyond Surviving’s mission. ● Lived experience of domestic or sexual violence is welcomed but not required. ● Friendly, proactive, and comfortable speaking to diverse audiences. ● Able to commit to a minimum of 6-months volunteering with Beyond Surviving and at least 5 hours per month. ● Experience in outreach, advocacy, communications, or community engagement is a plus but not essential. ● Strong personable and teamwork skills. What You’ll Gain ● The opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking, survivor-led organisation making a meaningful impact. ● Be directly involved in bringing a bespoke and empowering service to life for survivors. ● Support survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence with their healing, wellbeing and personal growth. ● Support & Training provided. ● Ongoing mentorship and guidance from our team. ● Onboarding session covering Beyond Surviving’s values, trauma-informed principles, and guidance on representing the organisation. ● Skills in public communication, survivor-led outreach, and community engagement.
