Roots@UCC, which recently celebrated its 5th year is a training café in The Hub UCC run by people supported by Horizons (formerly Cope Foundation). It is providing valuable training for people with an intellectual disability in Barista skills, customers service skills, communication and cash handling/payment skills. It is a dynamic and busy café and a supportive environment for people to learn in.
Following on from the success of Roots Coffee Shop in our Garden Centre in Montenotte we opened this branch on UCC's main campus five years ago and it has been a great success.
Volunteers are needed to help support these adults in their café roles. Helping to make coffees, operate the till, cleaning duties and providing excellent customer service.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
The Roots Coffee Shop will be open 8.30 to 4.30, Mon to Fri and we would welcome help during those hours. We are asking for a minimum of 4 hours per week and a minimum of 3 months commitment. Induction training will be provided.
Skills required for this role:
Barista experience is essential for this role. We would really like someone who has a lot of experience working in a busy coffee shop, good communication skills, patience and a genuine interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities.
