Description
The SVP Drop-In Centre provides shelter, food, clothing, shower & laundry facilities, emotional and practical support to adults experiencing or at risk of homelessness/ food poverty. The people who use our service may need support around mental/ physical health, poverty, homelessness, addiciton, family difficulties etc. Our highly experienced Staff Team lead in this support.The café style centre depends heavily on a team of dedicated volunteers to help preparing and serving sandwiches and tea/ coffee. Many volunteers have a regular slot on a roster, while others cover vacant slots when they arise. The centre is open from 10am-4pm Monday- Friday, and from 10am-1pm on Saturdays. Volunteers generally cover 3 hour shifts (early= 10am-1pm, late=1pm-4pm). Volunteers receive relevant training, must be Garda Vetted and must provide 2 references prior to starting.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
- Provide a welcome to people using the service
- Food preparation
- Serving food (sandwiches, tea, coffee)
- Light cleaning duties (wiping tables etc)
- Chatting with people using the service

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Shifts are usually 3 hours long, either 10am-1pm, or 1pm-4pm Monday to Friday and 10am-1pm on Saturdays. Some volunteers do a regular shift, while others accept shifts when available via wats app group notifications.
Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
