Description

Age Action’s Getting Started programme is designed to provide basic computer skills to the over 55s and all our tutors are volunteers.

Our classes are small and volunteer tutors work one-to-one with students. We run mixed ability classes for both beginners and follow on students and the teaching process is student led.

The minimum commitment is one hour per week.

Tasks:

  • Teach learners to use Smartphone/Tablet
  • Teach learners to use computers
  • Help students learn different computer- related skills
  • Help students learn how to upload apps in their phone
  • Help students learn how to transfer photos from their camera to a computer
  • Help students learn how to navigate video calling apps like WhatsApp and Facetime
  • Help students learn how to upload apps in their phone
  • Teach learners how to use programmes such as Skype and Zoom
  • Teach learners how to navigate on internet

Our volunteers help us to tackle ageism and support older people to live full and independent lives. We aim to ensure that volunteering with Age Action is a two-way relationship, from which both the volunteer and Age Action will jointly benefit. We continuously seek to offer opportunities for volunteers, and to support our volunteers in their own goals.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Sligo MCR Community Centre Thur 10.30am-12.30pm

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hours p/week
