About Us:Our purpose is to advocate for an inclusive society for Autistic people that is accessible, accepting and affirming.
Since 2014, AsIAm has been a powerful movement for change for the Autism community in Ireland. What started as an online platform designed to share information and experiences, has evolved into Ireland’s Autism Charity.
AsIAm is Autistic-led and we are dedicated to transforming society, working for Autistic people and their families. Our work focuses on representing, connecting, coordinating and unifying the Autism community in Ireland. The Adult Support and Wellbeing Programme aims to address social isolation in the community by providing safe, accessible, neuro-affirming social spaces.
This role is to support with a social activity group for Autistic adults in Maynooth, Kildare. It is a safe space to hangout and meet peers. This is a fantastic opportunity for gaining hands-on experience and building community and social connection.
Volunteer “Support Ally” Role:
Purpose: Support the “Group Lead” to deliver inclusive, structured sessions; ensure participants feel welcome and supported.
Key Duties: Support activities; support communication and regulation; monitor group dynamics; raise concerns to Group Lead/Programme Lead.
Competencies: Empathy; patience; willingness to learn neuro‑affirmative practice; teamwork; reliability.
Is training provided?:Yes

Details of time commitment needed for role:
The group runs twice per month, on Wednesday evenings from 8pm - 9pm.
Time commitment is 1.5 hours per session, including set up and take down.
We are asking volunteers to commit to a minimum of one evening per month for 1 year.
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
