Join the EMerge PhD Network – Become a Volunteer & Make an Impact!

The EMerge PhD Network at the University of Limerick (UL) is a dynamic, student-led initiative built by PhD researchers, for PhD researchers. We are dedicated to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community where doctoral candidates can connect, collaborate, and thrive throughout their research journey.

We are currently inviting volunteer committee members to join our growing team and help shape an engaging and empowering experience for postgraduate researchers across all faculties.

What We Do: EMerge provides a peer-to-peer support and mentoring network, offering PhD students a valuable space to share experiences, exchange ideas, and support one another as they navigate the challenges of doctoral life.

Why Get Involved? As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening the PhD community at UL while also developing valuable personal and professional skills. Our core activities include:

Build leadership, communication, and organisational skills while expanding your own network within the UL research community. You also get PVA Hours!

Who Should Apply? We welcome enthusiastic, motivated PhD researchers from all disciplines who are passionate about community building, peer support, and making a positive impact on the doctoral experience. Whether you’re new to volunteering or already have experience, your perspective and ideas matter.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Below is a list of activities and likely tasks that committee members can contribute to based on their individual expertise.

- Event planning, Social media page management, Flyer design, Minutes taking, PR and publicity

Benefits of Volunteering:

Volunteer committee members will only be required to commit to 2-3 hours weekly and will get PVA hours; Networking opportunity; Get the chance to get your voice represented in key committees with the Doctoral College and the Postgraduate Student Union (PSU)
