Supporting Volunteers

Volunteering at DCU is driven by DCU Volunteer, the Office of Student Life and Students' Union. Together, they facilitate, manage and support volunteering at the university. Volunteering includes both on campus activity through clubs and socities as well as off campus activities through traditional volunteering and micro-volunteering. DCU Values and encourages volunteering of all kinds, encouraging students to be change-makers within the community.

DCU students offer so much to their local and national communities, giving back to communities and supporting those in need. The university offers support to students engaging in voluntering. Through DCU Volunteer, the Office of Student Life and Students' Union, students are offered support and guidance. Whether a student is considering beginning their volunteering journey or has been engaged in volunteering for a prolonged period of time, support and assistance is provided where possible.

Volunteering is valued and celebrated by DCU. DCU Volunteer, The Office of Student Life, including the Clubs & Societies Office, and the Students' Union continue to work on a scheme to recognise students' volunteering contributions. These include the Uaneed Award and the Presidents Award for Engagement. Through the StudentVolunteer.ie platform, students will also receive certificates, ensuring recognition for all their volunteering ventures as they build their Volunteer Portfolios.
