Description

Thurs 12th March
12 - 2pm
TU Dublin Grangegorman Lower House - LH 231
Drop in Re-turn activity

€300 worth of cash prizes to give out to volunteers on this day who take the best photo of objects they audit from our Re-turn bins at this drop in activity.

Join us on Thursday 12th March in Lower House LH 231 Grangegorman.
We are going togather the contents of our three Grangegorman Re-turn bins and audit what has been put into the bins.

We will also take the opportunity to take photos of the contents and educate students and staff on how the bins should be used.

We will equip our selves with the correct gear - gloves, masks etc. - and empty the bin, do some citizen scientific research by auditing the contents and then go to the local Re-turn Reverse Vending Machine to make some money for our chosen charity!

Students will be encouraged to take photos of their findings, be creative and there will be cash prizes for the best photos.

About our Re-turn Scheme at TU Dublin:

Launched initially and led by TU Dublin’s students Aleksander Biegalski, Alex Siedlok and Cosmin Clopotaru and supported by lecturer Dr Colm O'Kane and Chaplain Paul Mallon who oversee the scheme - our Re-turn scheme at TU Dublin has been very successful and we want it to continue to grow and benefit charity beneficiaries.

The proceeds are donated to charities chosen by the students who volunteer on Bolton and Grangegorman campus.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Promoting the Re-turn scheme
  • Bringing the cans and bottles to vending machines
  • Contributing to reporting systems and sharing knowledge across the campuses
